I am lucky enough to have a man who was willing to let me take off, before my fitness retreat at Amansala, a few days early just to be alone. You see, I don’t think I’ve ever actually been alone pretty much my whole life. I am really a people person — sounds cliche’ — but true. People give me energy, I love almost everyone I meet and I love to talk. So, here I am in the most remote part of Tulum for the sole purpose of being alone, and I might be losing my mind. No, this isn’t a soul searching mission — I don’t have things to figure out or a need to meditate — I just wondered what it would be like. Well, guess what? It’s not for me. It doesn’t suck for sure (as they do have wi-fi), but I am dying to go down that bumpy little road and find my people.

Let’s talk about my room. It’s a tent. Literally. It’s sitting inside of a hut, but it’s a tent. My door has a zipper. My window does face the ocean, see above pic, and I am literally a stone’s throw away from the water. The ocean kept me up last night . . . hopefully tonight I’ll be more used to the sound. I fell asleep to a movie on my mac — Crazy, Stupid Love — pretty stupid movie. But, it kept me company. You see, I think I really do have trouble being alone. Maybe that’s why I’m here.

I’m now off to the beach to catch some rays and to read my vogue (with loud music in my ears).

I love artichoke hearts and I love capers — so this is a no-brainer. And, my kids never have pasta (as my son says, “we are the healthiest family in Denver”), so I do like to treat them on occasion (even though it is rice pasta which is gluten free   don’t tell!).

This recipe took me exactly 25 minutes from start to finish. I hear it was really good — I had to run off to a meeting so I didn’t get any. I omitted the flour and the butter (although, I believe a little butter every day is good).

I know, lot’s of music videos these days. I think M.I.A. is such a bad-ass.

This is awesome — it’s 8 minutes long, but as a mom of a 13-yr old, I can tell you this, if I had a gun I might put some bullets through my kid’s laptop too . . . if it’s too long for you, you HAVE to fast forward to the last 60 seconds for sure. Very good ending.

Fast and Simple . . . done and done. The way a Monday night should go.

I love this woman’s voice. This is the kind of music I play in my kitchen when I’m cooking. She reminds me of a blend between Karen Carpenter and Burt Bacharach.

p.s. Just saw Extremely Loud, Incredibly Close. I don’t know, I think it’s still just too soon to do a movie about 9-11. I cried my eyes out, one of the saddest movies I’ve ever seen. It just felt gratuitous.  Just saw that NYC is back at the top of the list of rudeness. Thank God.
